Service and Career
Mr. Ronald Magee, the second 2016 inductee into the ORSA Hall of Fame, is widely acknowledged for his expertise in motorized infantry brigades and his role in redefining modern warfare. He studied at the United States Naval War College and the U.S. Army War College, earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and a Master’s Degree from American University.
Mr. Magee retired after 40 years of distinguished Federal service, including ten years as the Senior Executive Service (SES) Director of the TRADOC Analysis Center – Fort Leavenworth (TRAC-FLVN).
Achievements
- Directed TRAC’s mission to update the Army’s fighting and command strategies and implement modern technology to enable success in complex urban environments worldwide
- Played a pivotal role in the Army of Excellence force design studies in the early 1980s, leading to major reorganization of the Army
- Guided TRAC-FLVN in conducting the Task Force Modularity studies, which underpinned the Chief of Staff of the Army’s decision to transform the force into a modular, brigade-based structure
- Recognized the assembly of a “truly talented bunch of leaders and analysts at TRAC Fort Leavenworth” as his greatest contribution, creating one of the most respected analytic organizations in DoD
