Major General Peter N. Benchoff

HQDA G-8, Director of Program Analysis and Evaluation

Major General Peter N. Benchoff serves as the Director of Program Analysis and Evaluation (PA&E) at HQDA, G-8. Serving as the Director of PA&E, MG Benchoff is directly responsible to the Secretary of the Army and the Chief of Staff of the Army for the independent assessment, integration, and synchronization of the Army Program and developing the Army's POM.

As a General Officer, MG Benchoff has served as the Chief of Staff for U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC), located at Fort Shafter, Hawaii, the Director of Force Management at HQDA, and as the Deputy Commanding General (Operations) for the 82d Airborne Division.

MG Benchoff has also served in key operational command and staff positions from platoon leader to brigade commander in light infantry, airborne, and ranger units. He also served as the Director of the Chief of Staff of the Army’s Coordination Group and as the Executive Officer for the Vice Chief of Staff of the Army. His operational experience includes seven deployments to Afghanistan.

MG Benchoff’s education includes a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy, an MBA from Touro College, a Master of Military Science from the Marine Corps University, and a Master of Strategy from the U.S. Army War College. He holds numerous awards and decorations and is proudest of the Valorous Unit Award and Presidential Unit Citation he was awarded as a member of the “Strike Force” – 2d Battalion, 502d Infantry (Air Assault).

MG Benchoff is married to Dr. Theresa Benchoff, MD, and they have three sons. His hobbies and interests are focused on his family and sports.
