Service and Career
Andrew Loerch's career combined Army operations research, analytical model development, and leadership of the military analysis profession.
His Value Added Analysis methodology addressed capital budgeting for Army weapon systems and earned the Wilbur B. Payne Award in 1993. His work on the Combat Sample Generator, known as COSAGE, helped analysts examine operational warfare and supported decisions about Army requirements and capabilities.
Loerch served as president of the Military Operations Research Society from 2004 to 2005 and became a MORS Fellow in 2008. In 2011, he received the Vance R. Wanner Memorial Award for sustained contributions to national security operations research. He also helped develop professional reference literature, including co-editing Methods for Conducting Military Operational Analysis.
