Abstract
In FY24, the Non-Kinetic Effect (NKE) Modeling and Analysis Working Group (MAW G) was established to assess gaps in the modeling of NKEs. To this end, the NKE MAW G conducted a study of NKEs which involved querying senior leaders for NKE modeling requirements and objectively comparing those requirements to existing methods, models, and data pertaining to the modeling of NKEs. The developers of 31 different models, frameworks, and tools were surveyed, and these survey results were used in combination with senior leader inputs and NKE MAW G team member inputs to develop an implementation plan to address the gaps identified in the study.
The results of this effort informed the initiation of a sprint for one of the identified high priority NKE areas to serve as a proof-of-principle and “template” for the implementation of other NKEs in applicable models.
This presentation will contain the background of how the study was initiated, the overall methodology and approach for assessing, summarizing, and comparing study findings, and the rationale used to prioritize NKEs for the resulting implementation plan.
